To what extent does innovation and creativity fit with teaching and learning? This is an essential question that every educator must answer in their practice. We have to be aware that is exists, can exist, or may exist in our future goals. But what do we have to do to ensure that innovation and creativity happen? I think the first goal is to acknowledge that our disciplines leave room for us to open the door to innovation. Innovation happens and when we recognize it as teachers, we are better prepared to share those same lessons and experiences for our students. What happens outside in industry, nature, and higher academia, can and must be shared with the students working in our schools. We can do more to aspire to innovate in our instructional design. We must get better and more rigorous with our collaboration. We must look at ideas that currently exist and make them better, make them ours!
