We know this! Anyone who has any kind of formal education knows the power of reflecting on what you are doing, what you have done, and what you plan to do. When we take the time to reflect, we think about our own behaviors and learn more about ourselves and others, Resources are vast regarding "metacognition". "The root “meta" means “beyond," so the term refers to “beyond thinking." Specifically, this means that it encompasses the processes of planning, tracking, and assessing your own understanding or performance." https://www.learning-theories.com/metacognition-flavell.html. I have become a huge advocate of relfection and continue to see the power of "thinking about the thinking". You have to create the time and space and make it a habit. When we create in learners, this same habit, students begin to see the power of relfection on their learning.
