Another scheduled self-reflection check-up. This is where the work gets messy. Where you decide that you are hitting your mark or where you feel that work still needs to be done. Regardless of what the deadline is, I've always been a learner that stands back from my work with a critical lens in hopes of creating something decent. It's usually when I will make changes or something will come to mind and my thoughts will go in yet another direction. "Redirect and move forward" such a strong statement and one that serves us well in education- it's called formative assessment and it really is the best part of learning provided that all stakeholders (teachers and students) see the value in it. So here it is....my official check up for Friday August 5, 2016 as posted in the Queen's University PME 800 discussion thread...

The process of building, curating content, and blogging is going well. As I continue to think about my posts and go through the metacognitive process, I build a deeper awareness of the power of SRL on a person who is actively aware that it purposefully drives our learning. That’s what is really striking me is the power of the reflective piece and how it directs the routes you take in designing your own learning. I also can’t help but think about the power of teaching my high school kids the necessary skills and awareness of SRL… I am finding that the skills and thoughts that come through the SRL process are enough to overcome feelings of being overwhelmed or the constant bombardment of procrastination and distractions that anyone would willingly choose without a SRL compass to right you. Struggles: Making posts on my blog consistent; every 3-4 days Supports: I should set up a reminder to come to my phone regarding post days
