Watching the wheels go round and round...I really love to watch them roll.

As SRL requires an active regulation of the learning process, the student must consider an effective way to apply a lens on his/her work to ensure learning is effective. For the project, I have set out some very clear proximal goals that should lead to the distal goal at the conclusion, but what happens along the way will be important to hit the target. Internal and external feedback processes have to be put to work. Support or “pause” for feedback along the route will cement understanding. Nicol and Macfarlane-Dick proposed a 7 step model of feedback that works in collaboration with motivation and beliefs.
Make the learning process explicit, engage metacognition (train if required), and employ a solid self-monitoring system.
In the other required reading by Tobey and Goldsmith, the essence was that we want kids to monitor and regulate their own learning. It really becomes about ownership. Be clear on goals (articulate criteria), monitor where you are in relation to your goals at each step (monitoring), if you haven’t met the goals what needs to be done differently (monitoring).
My monitoring process was designed using a pictochart. I took all of my previously laid out goals and put them into a succinct one page chart to monitor the entire process. Now, it becomes a matter of keeping up with it. I have created it in a way that lays out strategic chunks that flow from on process into the next. The challenging part may be soliciting feedback from others!
